What Is the Azuga ELD?

The Azuga ELD is a compact, self-contained electronic logging device that plugs directly into your vehicle’s OBD-II or JBUS (for heavy-duty trucks) diagnostic port and automatically records everything the FMCSA requires: engine hours, vehicle movement, miles driven, and driver duty status. It replaces paper logbooks entirely, syncing Hours of Service (HOS) data and Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR) to a secure web portal in real time.

Azuga ELD is registered with the FMCSA and meets FMCSA 395 (Hours of Service) and FMCSA 396.11/396.13 (Driver Vehicle Inspection Report) requirements for both U.S. and Canadian fleets, and is also certified for use in Mexico.

At a glance:

  • Automatic HOS capture — no manual entries, no guesswork
  • Digital DVIR with photo capture for pre-trip and post-trip inspections
  • Real-time compliance alerts sent by email or SMS before a small issue becomes a roadside violation
  • Available in English, Spanish, and French — a genuine advantage for bilingual driver teams across the Rio Grande Valley and border region
  • Works on Android and iOS
  • Compact device (about the size of a deck of cards) that self-installs into the OBD-II port in seconds — though our technicians will handle it for you
  • Optional integration with Azuga Fleet for full GPS tracking, driver scoring, and vehicle diagnostics on the same device

Why South Texas Fleets Choose Azuga ELD Through Efficient Fleets

Anyone can sell you a device and a login. Here’s what you actually get as an Efficient Fleets customer:

Local, Onsite Installation Our technicians come to your yard or shop and install your Azuga ELD devices correctly the first time.

Hands-On Training Every driver and fleet manager gets real, in-person or live training on the ELD app, HOS status changes, DVIR submission, and what to do during a roadside inspection — not a PDF you’re expected to read on your own.

Real Local Support When you have a question, you’re calling a San Antonio-based team that knows your account, not an overseas call center. We handle troubleshooting, technical support, and software questions directly.

Built for Fleets of 1 to 50 — and Beyond
Whether you’re a single owner-operator, a 5-truck service company, or a 50-vehicle regional fleet, Azuga ELD scales with you. And if you’re growing past 50 vehicles, we’ll grow right along with you — Azuga already powers compliance for over 14,000 fleets nationwide, from owner-operators to large enterprises.

Azuga ELD – Frequently Asked Questions

Does the FMCSA ELD mandate apply to my pickup truck or box truck?

It can. The ELD rule isn’t limited to tractor-trailers. If your vehicle’s gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or gross combination weight rating (GCWR) is 10,001 lbs or more and it’s used in interstate commerce, an ELD is generally required. Many service vans, box trucks, and light-duty work trucks fall into this category once they’re loaded or towing.

Is driver training included?

Yes. Every Azuga ELD customer receives hands-on training for drivers and fleet managers as part of onboarding — not a self-service video link.

Can Azuga ELD work with GPS tracking too?

Yes. Azuga ELD can run as a standalone compliance solution, or be combined with Azuga Fleet for GPS tracking, driver safety scoring, and vehicle diagnostics on the same device and in the same app.

What size fleets do you work with?

We built our Azuga ELD program around fleets of 1 to 50 vehicles, which is the vast majority of the businesses we serve across South Texas — but we regularly support larger fleets as well. There’s no minimum or maximum.
